Hey, do any of you have a certain song that gets your creative juices flowing? If so, I was thinking of making a cd with all of our songs on it. Perhaps it would help bond us as a team or just be a fun cd to have around. For kicks, I've matched up a song for each one of you. : )
Larry- Safety Dance
Jason- Dream On
Jim- We’re Not Gonna Take It
Victor- Eye of the Tiger
Mary Kay- Don’t Worry, Be Happy
Jeff- Everybody Have Fun Tonight
Wells- The Devil Went Down to Georgia
John- Johnny B. Goode
Adam- Paperback Writer

Ok, so this will be hard to admit. The song I use the most before shows and when ever I need creative expression is a polka by weird Al that uses bits of others songs for the lyrics. You know speaking of CDs...........
I have so much more respect for you now, Vic. Which polka medly? Chances are I have it on my iPod!
Emily, I appreciate the thought, but Paperback Writer? A bold choice, but I would prefer either REM's "The Great Beyond" (from the "Man on the Moon" soundtrack) or Bloodhound Gang's "Mope" (a song that samples from "Rock Me Amedus," Frankie Goes To Hollywood's "Relax," "The Simpsons" and the Pac-Man video game.
Adam-I know it's not a great fit for you, but I couldn't find a song that captured the essence of what a great writer you are.
Larry-I thought Safety Dance fit you because you always stick to your guns and seem to want others to do the same.
Jason-You always push for other people to think big because you do.
Jim-Kinda like Larry but I picture you listening to Twisted Sister for some reason. I think it's because I saw the picture of you with face paint.
Victor-You're always pushing yourself to excel and as a result you do.
Mary Kay- You always seem at peace. I picture you whipping super duper cookies out of your purse when someone is in need.
Jeff-Positive man. "Come on guys, more energy!" Fun and always up for more.
Wells-I don't know you very well, but I picture quick mental and physical energy. Do you play the fiddle? You should.
John-Same with Wells, but I picture you rocking out beneath the trees on a railroad track. A leader for sure.
I gotta admit, I do like Safety Dance. And I do have that act like an imbecile figured out......
Ok, Em. I'm down with "Paperback Writer." Let's rock that out.
I like the idea. Maybe we can put a copy in the never say die box?
Okay, first of all the face paint should have told you Jim’s a soldier in the Kiss Army. So I’d say his song is “War Machine,” for two reasons. One, he has an Iron Man t-shirt, and two, they don’t have a song called “Improv Machine.”
Vic warms up to Polkas on 45! That’s awesome.
Adam, “Paperback Writer” is an awesome song! (Ida’ dug a Beatles song) Then again, “The Great Beyond” is a sweet tune too.
Jason would obviously be a selection from the Alex Rose band. Not the current revolving door of hired guns (pun intended) incarnation, but something from either the Steven Adler/Izzy Stradlin or Gilby Clarke/Matt Sorum eras.
Admittedly, I don’t have enough data to have an informed opinion on the other selections.
The Devil Went Down to Georigia… not even on my iTunes… and I’m the fiddle player? I don’t play the fiddle. But if I’m the fiddle the player, I’d be all like, “Get thee behind me Satan, because all that’s in front of me is an ass kickin’!” And then WHAM! I’d rack him right in the friggin’ melon with that fiddle. And I’d be all like, “How you like that you frickin’ turdburger!” And I would proceed to put one hell of a serious beat down on the Devil. That shit would be righteous! And I’d keep crackin’ him with that fiddle until there was no fiddle left. Then I’d add insult to injury and take his damn fiddle and start beatin’ the crap out of him with that one!! And I’d be all like, “All aboard the pain train!!” And I’d hit him, WHAM! “That’s for AIDS!” And then, WHAM! “That’s for Al-Qaeda!” And then WHAM! “That’s for Meth!” WHAM! “That’s for breaking up the Beatles!” And… WHAM! “That’s for Broccoli!”
Yup’, that would be one serious ass kickin’. And afterwards, I’d go out and get a t-shirt that said, “Satan’s my B-tch.”
… what were talking about again?
Dude, Yoko Ono broke up the Beatles, not Satan. Believe it or not, there is a big difference between the two.
Em, I'd have to say that Wells is right. I may not have selected that song, but I'll admit Wells, it fits! So .... LET THE ARROWS FLY !!! Ya better watch out ..... Oh and Wells, for you, I'd go with Stone Cold Steve Austin's ring music. I can hear the glass breakin' now .......
Jeff, for you I kinda hear Rush's New World Man. For J.B. I kinda hear Tesla's Modern Day Cowboy. Em, solely due to the opening line, I hear Styx's Lady for you. You are always smiling and when I see that, I can't help but do the same, so that makes it valid. M.K. you always seem up for anything and since you also have a operatic type voice, I'd give you Pat Benatar's Hit Me With Your Best Shot (oh and for me, Hell Is For Children holds a special place ... some of you know why). Adam, for you I hear the "Rock Me Amedus" inspired "Dr Zaius". Vic, Larry and John will require some additional thought.
Oh, I got one for Vic. Since Vic used to be kinda uncomfortable with physical contact, I'd go with the Police tune "Don't Stand So Close To Me".
Uh......Jim I think I will stay with the weird Al thing.
Vic, if you're staying with the Weird Al polka medly, how about "The Angry White Boy Polka?" Not that you're always angry, but you are always white. And boyish.
I need an empowering showtune, like "Being Alive" from Company.
Hey MK how about Respect by Aretha!
... WHAM! And that's for all the civil wars and rampant genocide in Africa... WHAM! And that's for every form of Cancer!... WHAM! And that's for illiteracy!... WHAM! And that's for Ann Coulter! WHAM! That one's for Ted Nugent!... WHAM!! And that's for the rampant overuse of CGI in Hollywood!!...
Hey Adam, if you're still missing Max, how about that old Johnny Paycheck tune for him, "Take this job and shove it"? I think it works. For Larry I kinda hear that Halloween fave "Monster Mash". Whatever Vic ....
Yes Adam the angry white boy polka will work just fine.
